Privacy Policy

Sports Simple Stats (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the Basketball Simple Stats, Lacrosse Simple Stats, and Soccer Simple Stats mobile applications and the sportssimplestats.com website (together, the “Service”).

This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it is stored, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. Terms not defined here have the meaning given in our Terms & Conditions. We have designed the Service to keep your data primarily on your own device and in your own private iCloud. The sections below describe the limited cases where information also reaches our service providers.

——————————————————————————–
1. SUMMARY (PLAIN LANGUAGE)
——————————————————————————–

– Your players, teams, games, and stats live on your device and in YOUR private iCloud account. We cannot see or access your iCloud data.
– You can use the app fully without creating an account.
– If you choose “Sign in with Apple,” we store a small linking record so your stats can be viewed on other platforms and so our rewards features work.
– If you turn on “Cloud Backup,” a copy of your stats is uploaded to our secure Firebase storage so our support team can help you recover data if you lose it. These copies are automatically deleted after about 6 months.
– You can unlink your Apple Account, delete your account entirely, or turn off Cloud Backup at any time from within the app.
– We use analytics and (in the free version) advertising, and we run an affiliate/referral and sponsorship program. Details below.

——————————————————————————–
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND WHERE IT IS STORED
——————————————————————————–

2.1 Stats data you enter (on your device and your private iCloud)

You enter information about players, teams, seasons, and games — which may include player first/last name, nickname, jersey number, position, age, grade,

gender, height, weight, city, state, country, birthdate, photos, and game statistics. This information is stored locally on your device and synced to YOUR OWN private iCloud database through Apple’s CloudKit. This is controlled by
your Apple ID and your iCloud settings. We do not have access to your private iCloud database, and we cannot read this data unless you separately choose to share it with us (for example, by enabling Cloud Backup — see Section 3).

2.2 Account / “Sign in with Apple” data (Firebase Authentication + Firestore)

Creating an account is optional. If you choose “Sign in with Apple,” we use Google Firebase Authentication to create an account, and we store:
– your Apple user identifier;
– a Firebase user identifier;
– your name and email address, if you choose to share them with Apple at sign-in (Apple may provide a private relay email instead of your real one);
– the date you linked. We also write a small “identity mapping” record to Google Firestore containing your Apple user identifier, your Firebase user identifier, your iCloud record identifier, the sport/app, and the app bundle identifier. This mapping lets you view your stats on other platforms (such as the web) and links your account to our rewards and referral features. It does not contain your stats.

2.3 Cloud Backup data (Firebase Storage) — OPTIONAL, OFF UNTIL YOU CONSENT
If you enable Cloud Backup (see Section 3), we upload a backup file to our secure Google Firebase Storage that contains:
– basic device information (device model, operating system version, a per-app device identifier, and app settings/preferences);
– basic account information (your iCloud record identifier, membership type, and — if you linked an account — your Apple user identifier, Firebase user identifier, linked email, and link date);
– a full export of your players, teams, and games, including the player details and statistics listed in Section 2.1 (this can include information about minors — see Section 7). Backups are stored under an unguessable identifier, are not readable by other users of the app, and are automatically deleted after approximately six (6) months. You can turn Cloud Backup off at any time in Settings; existing backups then simply age out.

2.4 Rewards, credits, and referrals (WinWinKit)
Our rewards, in-app credits, and referral/affiliate features are powered by a third-party service, WinWinKit. We send WinWinKit an application user identifier (your iCloud record identifier) together with non-identifying metadata such as your linked Apple/Firebase identifiers, the sport, your membership type, your credit balance, and counts of your players/teams/games. We do NOT send your email address or player personal information to WinWinKit.

2.5 Usage and analytics data (Firebase / Google Analytics)
Like most apps, we automatically collect usage and diagnostic data to operate and improve the Service — for example, device type and identifiers, operating system, app version, feature usage events, and crash/diagnostic data. We use Google Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) and Firebase Crashlytics. We do NOT put your email address or player personal information into our analytics user properties.

2.6 Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
If you enable notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging and store a device push token so we can send you notices such as promotions or important updates.

2.7 Advertising (free version)
The free version of the app displays ads through Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads, which may collect an advertising identifier and usage data to serve and measure ads. On iOS, we request permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency before any tracking that requires it. You can decline, and you can remove ads by upgrading.

2.8 Website and cookies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies (session, preference, and security cookies) to operate the site and analyze usage. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, though some features may not work.

——————————————————————————–
3. YOUR CHOICES AND CONTROLS
——————————————————————————–

– Use without an account: The app is fully functional without signing in.
– Cloud Backup: Off until you accept the one-time in-app prompt. You can toggle it on or off any time in Settings. When off, no new backups are uploaded.
– Unlink Apple Account: In the app’s Account screen you can unlink at any time. Unlinking deletes the server-side identity-mapping record, signs you out of our authentication service, and removes locally stored account details. Your stats are not affected. You can re-link later.
– Delete Account: In the app’s Account screen you can permanently delete your account. This revokes your “Sign in with Apple” token, permanently deletes your authentication account, deletes the server-side identity-mapping record, deletes any Cloud Backup files we hold for you, and turns Cloud Backup off. Your stats remain on your device and in your own iCloud. See Section 8.
– Notifications and ads: Manage via your device settings and the App Tracking Transparency prompt.

——————————————————————————–
4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
——————————————————————————–

We use the information described above to:
– provide, maintain, and operate the Service and its features;
– sync your stats to your own iCloud and, if you opt in, back them up so support can help you recover lost data;
– operate accounts, rewards, credits, and the affiliate/referral program;
– provide customer support;
– analyze and improve the Service and fix technical issues;
– send notices and, in the free version, serve and measure ads;
– detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues;
– comply with legal obligations.

——————————————————————————–
5. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
——————————————————————————–

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
– With service providers who process data on our behalf under contract — including Apple (iCloud/CloudKit, Sign in with Apple), Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics), Google AdMob, and WinWinKit (rewards/referrals) — solely to provide the Service.
– For legal reasons — to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us.
– In a business transfer — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

——————————————————————————–
6. AFFILIATE, REFERRAL, AND SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMS
——————————————————————————–

We operate affiliate/referral and sponsorship programs (see sportssimplestats.com/affiliate), administered in part through WinWinKit.

– Referral codes: If you claim the app using a referral code, or if you participate as an affiliate, we and WinWinKit process the referral code, claim and conversion events, membership status, and related reward/credit and commission data to attribute downloads, conversions, and revenue and to calculate payouts to affiliates. As noted in Section 2.4, we do not share your email or player personal information with WinWinKit for this purpose.
– Affiliates and sponsors: If you apply to be an affiliate or sponsor, we collect the information you submit in the application (such as name, contact details, and payout information) to evaluate and administer your participation and to make payments.
– Affiliates and sponsors must comply with applicable laws, including disclosing material connections (for example, that they earn commissions) where required.

——————————————————————————–
7. PLAYER INFORMATION AND CHILDREN
——————————————————————————–

The Service is directed to and intended for use by adults (18+). You must be at least 18 to create an account or use the Service.

The Service is a tool that lets an adult user (such as a parent, guardian, coach, or team manager) record statistics about players, who may include minors. That player information is entered and controlled by the adult account holder and is stored primarily on the account holder’s own device and private iCloud. If Cloud Backup is enabled, a copy of that information (including player names, birthdates, and other details you enter) is also stored in our Firebase Storage as described in Section 2.3, controlled by the account holder, and deleted automatically after about six months (and immediately purged if the account is deleted).

We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account or provide us personal information directly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 18 has provided us personal information directly, or you want player information about your child removed, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it. Adult account holders are responsible for having the appropriate authority and any necessary consents to record information about the players they track.

——————————————————————————–
8. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
——————————————————————————–

– On-device and iCloud data persists until you delete it in the app or remove the app/your iCloud data; this is controlled by you and your Apple ID.
– The identity-mapping record persists while your account is linked and is deleted when you unlink or delete your account.
– Cloud Backup files are deleted automatically after approximately six (6) months, when you delete your account, or (for old copies) as newer backups age out.
– When you delete your account in the app, we revoke your Sign in with Apple token, delete your authentication account, delete your identity-mapping record, and delete Cloud Backup files we hold for you. Some information may persist for a limited time in backups or logs of our service providers, or where retention is required by law.

——————————————————————————–
9. DATA SECURITY
——————————————————————————–

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including access restricted storage and rules that prevent one user from reading another user’s backups. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

——————————————————————————–
10. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER
——————————————————————————–

We are based in the United States and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

——————————————————————————–
11. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
——————————————————————————–

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to opt out of certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Many of these actions can be performed directly in the app (unlink, delete account, turn off Cloud Backup). For other requests, contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

——————————————————————————–
12. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
——————————————————————————–

Effective date: July 4, 2026

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new policy on this page and update the “Effective date” above, and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
